Hello, it’s me! Rose!
Opening this week’s post with this classic by the magical Todd Rundgren, which coincidently I did at karaoke on Tuesday night. It kiiind of worked as a choice. A little laid-back for a real audience pleaser: 7/10. Extra points for the “it’s important to meeee, that you know you are freee ” part, because…OOF, my heart!
Anyway, onwards to the content you’re here for!
Pattern News!
The Very Varied Vest launched last week (12th January)! Our first pattern for 2024 and my first pattern as a grader. I could not be happier with it. It’s such a versatile pattern, offering FOUR different views: Round neck, V-neck, split front with buttons and split front with ties (pictured below). The fit, is of course, *chef’s kiss*.

Our written version has this diagonal intarsia colour work. If you’ve never done intarsia before this is perfection. Super simple, and once you master this, the sky’s the limit! Really. As always we want to design patterns that you can trust will fit beautifully, but also encourage you to be creative and take some risks! We’ve been completely blown away by some of the colour work our testers came up with for this pattern. I mean, take a look at the Ravelry Project Gallery.
The Ballistics Bib is being launched as a pattern on Tuesday 30th January. Lydia designed this in collaboration with Qing Fibre, who will be launching a mini-skein bundle (also on the 30th, at 7pm GMT) for the pattern. You can of course make the bib in any colour/s you like, and as part of the pattern Lydia is making embroidery charts so you can any numbers at the bottom and are not tied to a 2023 bib in 2024, or indeed 2025, 2026 and so on…

Last, and by no means least, the Rumble Raglan has been updated and is going to be relaunched in February! Changes include: deepening the neck shaping in smaller sizes, shortening the raglan to prevent bunching and riding up, and adding bust darts across the board. More to follow in later posts, but do keep your ear to the ground for this.
New Year Resolutions
We’re 19 days into 2024, so I think I can still talk about my intentions for this year. it’s quite simple really… I would like it to be full of dancing and singing. Both doing and watching. (Hence, the karaoke this week). I love singing while knitting and I’d love to develop some dancing/knitting way of working. I bet some of you reading this have done this! For an example of the kind of moves I mean, I can’t get enough of Mats Ek’s choreography for Swan Lake (see below). Like, I love a pointed finger in a dance routine! This is the energy I am bringing forward into 2024.
Short of creating a whole mood board of dance and costume, I think I’ll end my post here. But, I may start dancing, singing and knitting on my socials very soon.
Lots of love,
Rose
